A GOSPEL TREASURY
Poems Based on Lectionary Gospels
Love to us at Christmas came
to live with us on earth.
Jesus was the infant’s name
and humble was his birth.
For in a manger he was laid,
so cold and dark the night.
Yet o’er his birthplace angels prayed,
rejoicing at the sight.
All praise and love to God on high
and on the earth be peace.
Good will to men, the angels cry.
God’s love will never cease.
The child whose birth we celebrate
now rules the earth in love.
And he has opened wide the gate
for us to heaven above.
to live with us on earth.
Jesus was the infant’s name
and humble was his birth.
For in a manger he was laid,
so cold and dark the night.
Yet o’er his birthplace angels prayed,
rejoicing at the sight.
All praise and love to God on high
and on the earth be peace.
Good will to men, the angels cry.
God’s love will never cease.
The child whose birth we celebrate
now rules the earth in love.
And he has opened wide the gate
for us to heaven above.
