My good friend and mentor, Dr. Fred Craddock, tells of when he was teaching a preaching class at the Candler School of Theology. Two Benedictine monks were members of his class. One of the monks returned on a Monday morning after a weekend visit to a monastery and told this story. He said, "I spent the weekend at the Trappist Monastery in Conyers, Georgia, and a most marvelous thing happened to me. At mealtime we were served the most delicious bread. It was wonderful! There was plenty of it. We were all enjoying it and no one was saying a word.
