Children's Activity
Object:
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Envelope
Markers, pencils, colored pencils
Stickers, stamps
Recipe cards with Forgotten Cookie recipe printed on them
Forgotten cookies (already baked)
Directions:
1. Pass out one or two Forgotten Cookies to each of the children. Explain how the cookie gets its name. Allow the cookies to be eaten as they work on the project.
2. Have the children write "God Forgives and Forgets our Sins!" on their envelopes (younger children may need help).
3. Let the children decorate their envelopes with markers, stickers, or stamps.
4. Give each of the children a Forgotten Cookie recipe card to put in his or her envelope.
5. Ask the children to share the recipe and what they have learned with their families.
Forgotten Cookie Recipe
2 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips or nuts
1. Preheat the oven to 375º F.
2. Beat egg whites and salt until fluffy and firm (meringue).
3. Slowly add sugar.
4. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
5. Put dough on cookie sheet in teaspoon-sized dollops.
6. Put in oven and turn oven off.
7. Leave in oven overnight (or at least four hours).
