Ambassadors for Christ
Children's sermon
Object:
A newspaper article mentioning an ambassador (If no
article is available, just talk about one you have seen.)
Good morning! I have here an article from the paper which
tells us that our country has named a new ambassador to the
country of Brazil. Can anyone tell me what an ambassador is? (Let
them answer.)
An ambassador is an important person, because he or she is
going to be the representative of our country in a foreign nation.
If that country gets a bad impression of the ambassador, they will
have a bad impression of our country. If the ambassador did
something really bad, that country might even go to war against
us! Can you see how vitally important it is that an ambassador
makes a good impression, so that the people of that country will
like him or her? (Let them answer.)
Well, the Bible tells us that each of us are also
ambassadors. We are not ambassadors for our country, but we are
ambassadors for someone. Who is it that we are ambassadors for?
(Let them answer.)
We are ambassadors for Christ! As we go about our daily
activities in school, on the playground, at home or wherever, we
are representing Jesus to all the people out there who don't
believe in him. If we do bad things, people are going to get the
wrong idea of what Jesus is like. They will say, "Well, if that's
what Christians are like, I surely don't want to be one!" Do you
want that to happen? (Let them answer.)
So we need to remember that we are his ambassadors and always
try to make a good impression on people so they will want to
become Christians -- people who know Jesus and all that he did for
us. Will you all try to be good ambassadors for Christ? (Let them
answer.)
Dear Jesus: Keep us ever mindful that we are your ambassadors as
we meet people in this world who do not know you. Amen.
