Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: Jesus talked about sheep and shepherds in many of his stories. One of them is in today's lesson with the theme of the sheep knowing the shepherd's voice. Play a game to try to see whose voices children can recognize. Have the children sit in a circle with their backs to the center. You may want to blindfold them. Choose one child to come to the center and say something. You might have them repeat lines of Psalm 23 since this is the psalm for today. See who can recognize the mystery voice first. Keep choosing a child until all have had a turn. They may want to try disguising their voices or whispering. You may want to enlist help from other people not in the class to read verses instead of their own classmates. After everyone has had a turn, repeat Psalm 23 together.
Parents: Psalm 23 has been such a comfort to so many people for so many years. It's not too early and your children are not too young to learn it. Make it a family activity at mealtimes.
