a Boy Scout Handbook and a Bible
Good morning! Does anyone know what this book is? (Show the
book and let them answer.) This is a Boy Scout Handbook. It has
all kinds of information about camping, hiking, and lots of other
stuff. If you read this book and learn what is in it, you will be
ready to take care of yourself in all kinds of situations. The
Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared." This book helps the scouts to
be prepared for whatever comes up.
Now, as Christians, we should also be prepared. In a letter,
Saint Peter tells us that we should always be prepared to tell
people about our faith. We are all supposed to be good witnesses
for Jesus. How do you think we can be prepared to tell people
about our faith in Jesus? (Let them answer.)
We also have a handbook that will help us be prepared. Here
it is. (Show the Bible.) What do we call this Christian handbook?
(Let them answer.) Yes, this is the Bible. If we spend time
learning what is in this book, we will be prepared to talk to
people about Jesus and all that he has done for us. If you can
read, you should spend time reading this book. If you can't read
yet, you should have your parents read to you from this wonderful
book.
