Being blessed

purchase. If not, make some ahead of time)
Some people are very lucky. Are any of you lucky? (Let them
answer.) We say that a person is "lucky" if good things happen to
that person. The Bible uses a word that is stronger than "lucky"
but it is a word we don't use much. It is the word "blessed."
"Blessed" means that you are happy. You are happy because good
things are happening to you. Jesus calls everyone who believes in
him "blessed" because they are very happy people. Even those who
die are very "blessed."
Jesus says you can be poor and still be "blessed." You can be hungry and still be "blessed." You can even be sad and still be "blessed." We are "blessed" because we know Jesus and know that Jesus loves us always -- whether we live or die. In good times and bad times, we are "blessed" people.
To help remind us that each of us is "blessed" I have a sticker I want to put on you today. This will help remind you and everyone who sees you that you are a "blessed" person. Everyone who knows Jesus is "blessed."
Dear Jesus: Thank you for calling us "blessed" and for making us your own dear children. Amen.
