A child of God
Children's sermon
Object:
Family album
I brought this family picture album with me this morning to
show you some pictures of some relatives of mine. These people
are all related to me. That makes them special me and me special
to them. It is nice to have relatives. Here's a picture of me
when I was your age. My mother still calls me her child. I am!
The writer who wrote what we read says that God calls us "children." Sometimes we don't like being called "children," but think of how great it is that you and I and all the people who believe are called God's children! We're all related! That means I'm your brother/sister! You're my sister! You're my brother! Isn't it wonderful to hear that we are related?
Maybe that's why the church is often called our church "family," because we are all related to God and therefore related to each other.
Dear God: Thank you for making us the church family. Thank you for calling us your children. Amen.
