Confessing the name of Jesus
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: It is not enough that we teach our children
the importance of believing in Jesus, but also the importance of
confessing our belief to others. Jesus has called us and
commissioned us to be his spokespeople to this unsaved world. We
need to confess his name at every opportunity.
*Play a game where the children will get a small prize for
every right answer. You can use candy or stickers or whatever
small premium you wish as prizes. Each child takes a turn to try
to answer a question. The answer will always be "Jesus." Use a
variety of different questions, but be sure the only right answer
is "Jesus." When everyone has answered correctly and received a
prize, talk about how we need to use the name of Jesus as often
as we can to tell other people about him.
*Read or tell a story about the martyrs of ancient Rome and
how they were put to death for confessing the name of Jesus. Tell
them about some modern-day Christians who have died for the
faith. Ask a volunteer to tell what they would do if he or she
was ever in a position where confessing Jesus would put him or
her in danger. Then discuss how blessed we are to live in a
country where we can confess our faith in Jesus openly. Let them
talk about how they share their faith with others.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Ask the children to tell you anything that they did this
week to share Jesus with other people.
