Each From Their Own Place
Children's Activity
Object:
Parents or Teachers: The lesson today is about people coming from the
north, south, east and west to eat in the kingdom. The message focused on
the directions in relation to the city lived in by the listener and the
number of churches in those cities, each hearing about God and
worshipping in their own way. You may want to create a collage of people
from all over the globe. You could use magazine pictures or draw them. You
will want to use a large square of paper. It could be an individual or a
group project depending on your circumstances. Use a thick black crayon or
marker and draw a vertical arrow in the center of the paper and label the
top north and the bottom south. Draw a horizontal arrow from left to right
intersecting the center arrow and label the left end of the arrow west and
the right end east. Where the two arrows intersect glue on a circle with
the verse printed around the outside of the circle: "People will come from
east and west, from north and south, and will eat in the kingdom of God (v.
29)." Then it's time to cut out all different sizes, shapes, colors and races
of people and glue them on the paper coming from all directions toward
the center. You may also want to cut out pictures of different kinds of
churches to glue on with the people. Display the picture collage when it is
finished. It might be a good rainy day or hot summer afternoon project
that is not finished in one session but can be added to as time permits.
