The end of time

Good morning and Happy New Year! Today is the first day of a
new year, and this is the last year that will start with 19
something. The next year is the year 2000, and we will have to
get used to writing 20 something instead of 19 something. Here is
a calendar for this new year. (Show the calendar.) Counting
today, we have only 365 days left in this century.
Did you ever think about how much we use time in our lives?
Everything we do is concerned with time. We plan all of our
activities using time. There is a time to get up, a time to go to
school, a time to work, a time to play, a time to come to church.
Just about everything we do is concerned with time. Can any of
you tell me anything you do that has nothing to do with time?
(Let them answer.)
Well, the Bible tells us that time will eventually end. When
Jesus comes back with all his angels to judge the world, time
will end! Those of us who believe in Jesus will go into Heaven to
be with him forever and there will be no time: no hours, no days,
no weeks, and no years. I know that is very hard for us to
understand since we use time for everything, but it's true.
The most important thing for us to remember about the end of
time is that when it happens, we want to be ready to go with
Jesus into heaven. Being ready means believing in Jesus. Do all
of you believe that Jesus is your friend and that he died on the
cross to pay for your sins? (Let them answer.) Good! Then you are
ready for the end of time.
Dear Jesus: We thank you so much that you have made us your
people so that we are ready for the end of time. Amen.
