Father, Son, Holy Spirit
Children's Activity
Object:
Parents and Teachers: This is Trinity Sunday, the Sunday that
focuses on the "three-in-one concept of God." Trinity Sunday is a
reminder to Christians, especially young Christians, that we have
a friend in Heaven. We know our "friend" by three names: Father,
Son and Holy Spirit.
Here is a Trinity cross project that makes children more aware of the Trinity idea. Create your own example first. Show your students the finished piece before they begin. White is the Trinity Sunday liturgical color. Offer such student a non-white 8 1/2 by 11-inch piece of construction paper. We suggest green since it is the color of the Pentecost season, which begins June 13. Next, have on hand a container of white glue, like Elmer's Glue. Using the glue container as a pencil, have students "draw" a cross. Give the students colored glitter to sprinkle over the wet glued cross. When that portion is finished use the glue container as a pencil again. Have each student draw a large triangle through the cross. The center of the triangle should be where the two lines of the cross intersect. The triangle represents the Trinity. Keep the triangle white to represent Trinity Sunday. The students may write "Trinity Sunday" on the top of the sheet and "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" on the bottom.
