SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Bowls
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Baking soda
Citric acid (available at drugstores, health stores, and the canning section of the supermarket)
Witch hazel
Essential fragrance oil
Waxed paper
Plastic wrap or cellophane
Small lengths of ribbon
Directions:
1. Have extra adults to allow the children to work in small supervised groups.
2. Help each group measure one cup of baking soda and four tablespoons of citric acid and put them into a bowl.
3. Then have each group mix a few drops of witch hazel and twenty to forty drops of essential fragrance oil into a different bowl.
4. Help the children add the oil mixture to the dry mixture, a little at a time, and mix well, using their fingers. When the mixture resembles a crumb piecrust, help the children mold the mixture into balls. Then place the balls onto waxed paper to dry.
5. Once dry, wrap each ball in plastic wrap or cellophane and secure it with a piece of ribbon.
6. Tell the children to take their bath fizzy ball home to use when they take a bath. Also tell them to think about Jesus washing his disciples' feet when they are using the bath fizzy balls.
