Parents and Teachers: At times it is difficult to lead a
Christ-like life. It may be difficult, especially when so many
secular choices confront us. Focus on the phrase, "Those who lose
their life for my sake will find it." Talk to your students about
missionaries in your denomination. Perhaps there are missionaries
that your congregation sponsors. There may be a book that lists
your denomination's missionaries and tells where they are
stationed. If so, share this information with your students.
Explain that these missionaries are making a choice. They've
chosen to give up certain things in order to follow where Christ
is leading them. If you can, choose a missionary that interests
your students. On a world map, show the students where the
missionary is serving. Have each student write a letter to the
missionary family. Students should express in the letter that
they are thinking of the work the missionary does. Close the
session with a short prayer, which focuses on the work of
missionaries.
