First fruits
Children's sermon
Object:
nice, fresh fruit (and perhaps some that is less-than-
fresh)
Good morning! I have here something I picked up from the
grocery store. It's fresh fruit. I love fresh fruit! When I look
at the apples and oranges that I can pick out, I never get the
bad ones. I always try to get the best fruit I can. That's the
fruit I pick for myself. It's my choice.
You are God's first choice! Just as I would pick the best for myself, so God picks you and me! If you stop and think about it, that is a great honor! We have been chosen by God!
When I was younger and friends would choose up sides to play ball, sometimes I was the last person chosen. It made me feel bad. Sometimes you might be among the last chosen for something as well. But that's okay. You are among the first that God chooses! Keep that in mind if you ever feel bad for not being chosen for something.
Dear Jesus: Thank you for choosing us to serve you. We are glad you have found us important. Amen.
