The first miracle
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: In this modern era when there are many in
the church as well as outside the church who deny the reality of
miracles, we need to be sure that our children recognize that
miracles were done by Jesus. This first miracle of Jesus at the
wedding in Cana gives us the opportunity to talk about the
miracles of Jesus and to affirm their reality.
*Ask the children to name a miracle reported in the Bible.
Make a list on the board or easel of all that they name. If it is
a very young group, you may have to suggest some to get them
started. Discuss each of the miracles that they list to emphasize
that they are truly miraculous actions of God and cannot be
explained away by any kind of human reasoning
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Bring an obituary page from the paper. Ask the children if
they think there is any way that any of these people could be
brought back to life. When they agree that this cannot be done,
read or talk to them about the people whom Jesus brought back to
life. These are true miracles.
