"Getting strong"
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: The source of our faith is the Word of
God. If we want our children to be strong in the faith, we must
nourish them with the Word. As early as possible, children should
form a strong attachment for the Bible and learn how to read it
with understanding.
*Make up large cards with the name of a Bible book on each
card. Pass out the cards to the children until all 66 are
divided. Ask the child who has the first book in the Bible to
bring it forward. Stick this up and then ask for the second book
and so on. You can do this as a contest to see if they know the
books in order or (with younger children) you can call out the
name and have them bring it forward as a means of getting
familiar with the names of the books and seeing the order in
which they appear.
*Ask the children to name things that they have eaten or
drunk in the last 24 hours. Write the items down on the board or
easel. When you have a long list, ask them why these things were
eaten or drunk. Then ask them what they have fed their spirit in
the last 24 hours. If they can't name anything, explain why the
spirit, too, must be fed and nourished if we want it to be
strong.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Sing "The B-I-B-L-E."
