God is the builder
Children's sermon
Object:
a dollhouse
Good morning, boys and girls. I brought a dollhouse with me
this morning. How many of you have a dollhouse, or maybe a toy
house where you keep some of your toys or where some of your toys
live? (Let them answer.) I want to tell you a story about this
dollhouse. There was a little girl about your age who played with
this house. (Point to the rooms as you tell the story.) She used
this room for the front room, this room for the playroom, this
room for the kitchen and this room for the bedroom. She really
had fun with this dollhouse. She even pretended that she built
more rooms on to it. These were imaginary rooms. There was a
playroom, a room for her pets and a deck for cookouts.
One day she asked her father where the dollhouse came from. Her father told her it came from a toy store. Then she asked where the toy store got the dollhouse. Her father told her it came from a factory. Then the girl asked her father what the factory used to make the dollhouse. Her father said that the factory made the dollhouse from wood and metal and plastic. Then the girl asked her father where the wood, metal and plastic came from. Her father said that those things came from God. God created the trees that grew the wood. God created all the other things that were used to make the dollhouse.
Here's what I want you to remember this week. You can play with dollhouses and other toy houses. You can build your own toy houses, too. Remember that God is the builder of all things. God creates people like you and me. God creates wood and water and minerals that are used by people to create toys and houses that people build. The next time you play with your toys and use a dollhouse or another toy house, remember that God is the builder of all things.
