In God we trust
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Learning to trust is important for our
children, but they must know who and what to trust. In this
Gospel text, the disciples failed to exhibit trust in Jesus, and
he chided them for their lack of trust. We need to show the
children that they can always trust in God and His word.
*Set up a maze with chairs and other furniture. Blindfold a
volunteer and take him/her through the maze, giving instructions
so he/she will pass through it without running into anything. You
may do this with more than one child. When you finish, ask the
child or children, if more than one participated, to discuss the
level of trust they had and how it became higher as they
progressed through the maze. Relate this to the trust we should
have in God and His word, which directs us through life.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Write the word "TRUST" in large letters on a board or
easel. Ask the children to give you a definition of the word.
Then write the definition on the board when you feel they have an
adequate one. Based on this definition, have them name whatever
they feel they can trust. If they don't name God, add this to
their list and discuss why God is most worthy of our trust.
