Parents and Teachers: This week's activity is based on the
second lesson for this Sunday. In this lesson, Paul is having a
difficult time persuading Jews to accept Christ. Verse 29 in this
lesson is worth memorizing. Here are five versions of the verse.
You may choose the one you think would be best suited for your
students.
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. - NRSV
For God's gifts and his call can never be withdrawn; he will never go back on his promises. - Good News
For God's gifts and his call are irrevocable. - NIV
God never takes back his gifts or revokes his choice. - Jerusalem Bible
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. - KJV
hoose the verse you've selected for memorization. Cut strips of white paper about 10 by 4 1/2 inches. Either copy the verse on the paper or have the students copy the verse. Using two popsicle sticks or 1/4-inch dowel rods (6 inches in length), glue the edges of the paper to the sticks to create a scroll with the verse on it. When the glue is dry, roll the sticks toward the center. Tie the scroll with a short ribbon or use a rubber band.
