Going with God
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Travel is likely to be part of the
holidays in your household. Perhaps you are traveling somewhere
or someone from far away is coming to your household. There may
be students in Sunday church school who do not live in your
community.
*Play the game, "Ten Things." Say: "Let's pretend we are going on a long trip. We need to pack but can only pack ten things. Let's start our packing list and see what ten things we will take with us. ... Do we take clothing? ... Do we take toothbrush and toothpaste? ... Do we take toys? ..."
There is something none of us has to pack. That "something" is really "someone." Do you know who I am speaking about? (Let them answer.) I'm talking about God. God is with us here or on the other side of the world. Wherever we go, God goes with us. That"s a nice thing to know, isn't it?
*You might be able to drive home an important point of faith by asking if those traveling are walking. "What! Not walking?" Then explain that in order to travel by car we must trust the driver. That is, we must have faith.
*Those traveling by air or rail must trust the pilot or engineer. In a similar way, as we travel through a new year, we trust (have faith in) God.
