Good news
Children's sermon
Object:
a horseshoe (or other "good luck" charm)
I brought a horseshoe to help me tell about good news. They
say a horseshoe gives a person good luck. I know that is not
true, but some people believe that. But what is "good news"?
For some people maybe it is that they have won a big prize. What kind of prizes would you like to win? (Let them answer.) Others might consider lots of money as "good news."
The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to a group who lived in a town called Thessalonica and he told them about how he had heard about their "good news." Was it money or prizes they had won? (Let them answer.) No. Their "good news" was about their faith in God and love for God.
Faith and love are important and those who have faith and love are very "lucky" because they are "good news" to God and others.
Dear God: Thank you for giving us faith to believe and love to share. Amen.
