Great faith!

Good morning! Have you ever been to a circus? (Let them
answer.) Do you like circuses? (Let them answer.) What is your
favorite part? (Let them answer.) One of my favorite parts is
when the high wire acrobats climb way up high and walk on a
narrow wire. "How do they do that?" I wonder.
Once there was a high wire artist who was amazing. (Here you can take your pole and mimic a high wire artist with a pretend wire on the floor.) He did all kinds of things on the high wire - - without a net under him. If he ever slipped, it would kill him because he was so high up.
After one amazing performance, he climbed down and asked the people in the audience if they believed he could walk on the thin high wire with a man on his back? The people there that day answered, "Yes!" Then he turned to a man sitting on the front row. "How about you, sir? Do you believe I could walk on that wire up there with a man on my back?" "Yes," the man said. "Then prove it," the acrobat said. "I want you to get on my back as I climb back up there and walk across."
Now what do you think the man said to the high wire artist? (Let them answer.) The man from the audience would need a lot of faith in the high wire artist to actually entrust his life to the man.
One day a woman met Jesus and asked him to heal her daughter. He was amazed that she trusted him so much. She was like the man from the audience -- she really believed in Jesus. Jesus said of her, "Woman, great is your faith." And then he healed her daughter!
We also can trust Jesus. We know that Jesus can do wonderful things. He can heal and he can do many things we cannot do. I would not trust myself to a man walking on a high wire, but I do trust Jesus with my life. That kind of trust is called "faithfulness." Jesus wants us all to trust him, to have faithfulness like the woman he met a long time ago.
Dear Jesus: Help us trust you and be faithful. Amen.
