Happy face
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Re-enact Mary's journey to the tomb (vv.
11-18). Use a small closet as the tomb and have some of the
children act out the parts of Mary, the two angels, and Jesus.
One of the children (or you) could be narrator. Do everything you
can to encourage the deep feelings in this story.
If you want to involve more children in the story, appoint a Simon Peter and "the other disciple" and re-enact the first part of the story (vv. 1-10).
* If you planted seeds in the soil two seeks ago (and, of course, kept it watered and in proper light), bring out the newly sprouted plants. Ask: "Do you remember when we planted these seeds? What happened since they were planted? What did they look like? Now what do they look like? How is this like Easter?" (Let them answer.)
* Sing "Now The Green Blade Rises."
* Hand out happy face stickers for the children to wear today.
* Draw and color happy faces. On each one write: "Christ is risen! HE IS RISEN INDEED!"
