Have the right answer

Good morning! There are several radio or television shows
where they make random telephone calls to homes, and if you are
lucky enough to be home when they call and you have the right
answer to their question, you win something. Sometimes you win
money or a trip or something else, but it's always a very nice
prize. Would you be happy if one of those shows called you? (Let
them answer.) But, how would you feel if they called and you
didn't have the right answer? Would you still be happy? (Let them
answer.) No, I guess we would all be really unhappy if we were
lucky enough to get a call and then didn't have the right answer.
Jesus once told a story about a king who gave a wedding
banquet and none of the people he invited to the banquet came. So
he had his servants go out into the street and invite anybody
that they met to come to the banquet, and these people all came.
Do you think those people felt lucky to be invited to a king's
banquet? (Let them answer.) Yes, of course they did. But the king
required everyone who came to the banquet to wear a wedding robe,
and one man came without one, so he was thrown out. This is kind
of like the people who are called by those radio shows. They feel
lucky to be called, but they have to have the right answer. In
the case of the banquet, they felt lucky to be invited, but they
had to wear the right robe.
God has invited all of us to a banquet in heaven. But, like
the radio show, we have to have the right answer to a question
before God will let us in. The question is, "Why should I let you
into Heaven?" What's the answer? (Let them answer.) The right
answer is, "Because I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior." No
other answer will get you into Heaven. Heaven is a free gift to
all who know the right answer. Will you all remember that? (Let
them answer.) Okay, let's thank God for inviting us to Heaven and
giving us the right answer that will get us in.
Dear God in Heaven: We thank You for giving the free gift of
Heaven to everyone who believes in Your Son, Jesus Christ. We
know that he is the right answer. Amen.
