Help the children
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: The words of Jesus about children give us an
opportunity to let our children know about the work that our
church and/or our community is doing to assist children locally
and in the world. We should not only tell them about such work,
but we should also think of ways that they can be personally
involved in this kind of work.
*Bring pictures and materials about a special mission
project that involves helping children for either a local,
national, or international project. Discuss with the children
various ways that this group could get involved in helping with
the project by raising money or making something. Get the
children excited about doing whatever you decide to do. Follow up
with a written letter to parents so they can also get involved in
helping.
*Make a list on the board or easel of all the basic
necessities of life that they probably take for granted. List
three meals a day, a warm bed to sleep in, clean water, and so
forth. Then explain to them that many of these things are missing
in the lives of children around the world and have them join you
in a prayer for all the suffering children in the world.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Invite a speaker from a local agency that helps children to
come and talk to the children about what the agency does to help
children.
