"Jesus heals"
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Jesus heals! During his life on earth,
he healed many kinds of infirmities; the deaf heard, the blind
saw, the crippled walked again. While these healings were
spectacular events to those who saw them, his most important
healing was the healing of our relationship with God. When he
died on the cross, he paid the full price for our sins and made
it possible for us to stand before God, justified by his blood,
and eligible for eternal life.
*Prepare cards with the names of illnesses and injuries on
them. Have a card for "blindness," "deafness," "broken leg,"
"cancer," and so forth. Hand out the cards to the children and
explain that you are going to pretend that they have the
infirmity or malady listed on their card. Then explain that Jesus
is coming to your town and he will heal the first ten people in
line. Their job is to line up in the order of the seriousness of
their problem. The most serious problem should be at the head of
the line.
When they have had time to sort through the problems and
come to agreement on who should be first in the line, show them
one more card which is titled "sin." Since this is the only
problem that will result in eternal death if it is not cured, see
if you can get their agreement that this should be the number one
thing healed by Jesus.
After "sin" is established at the front of the line, talk
about how Jesus has healed this terrible malady for all of us.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Have a prayer for healing of those who are ill in the
congregation.
*Ask the children to tell about a serious illness or
accident which they have experienced and how they were healed.
