Jesus our king
Children's sermon
Object:
a paper crown (also look for symbols around your church
worship space that have a crown symbolizing Christ the King)
We don't have very many kings today. Many years ago most of
the people who ruled the world were kings. Some had large
kingdoms and others had small ones. Kings were very powerful.
Jesus is our King and he is very powerful. Today we honor him as our King.
The President is kind of like a king today. He is a very powerful and important man. If he came to town, we would have all kinds of ceremonies and people would come from all over to see him.
If he came to our town, there would be many people along with the President -- Secret Service people to provide protection, news reporters to report on what the President says, and many citizens who just want to see what the President looks like in person.
Well, the President is not here this morning, but someone even more powerful and important is here: JESUS!
Dear Jesus: Thank you for being our king. Amen.
