Jesus says: "Children first"
Children's sermon

fast food restaurant kid's meal prize
Good morning, boys and girls. I brought a (name the restaurant
and prize) with me this morning. Do any of you have one of these?
(Let them answer.) How many of you enjoy eating out with your
parents at this restaurant? (Let them answer.) One of the best
parts of eating out with your family is getting the prize, isn't
it?
I want to tell you the story about a girl about your age who loved to eat at a restaurant where prizes were given in the children's meal. She collected these prizes. Her parents told her where they were going for supper. She couldn't wait. When they arrived they ordered their meal. The little girl received her meal in a box and inside was her prize. She ate the meal and played with her prize. She asked her mother if she could return to the order counter and get a refill on her drink. Her mother said that it was okay to do so. When the girl walked to the counter there were many adults standing in line to place orders. She stood there for a long time. Even though it was her turn and even though all she wanted was a refilled drink the persons taking the orders didn't notice her. They ignored her and kept taking orders from adults! Has this ever happened to you? The girl waited and waited but she was never noticed. Finally her mother walked up and helped her.
This story reminds me of this morning's lesson. Just like the little girl who was trying to get attention at the restaurant, children were trying to get Jesus' attention. Jesus' disciples were ignoring them. Jesus saw this. Jesus told his disciples to bring the children to him. Jesus didn't want to ignore children. Jesus told his disciples that for persons to enter the kingdom of heaven they must be like a child to do so.
Here's what I want you to remember this morning. Sometimes some people ignore you because you are a child. They act as if you aren't asking a question, or don't have something to say. Jesus isn't like that. Jesus loves children. Jesus loves you. You are just as important to Jesus as any adult. The next time you eat out with your parents remember Jesus. Jesus loves you.
