"Learning like Jesus learned"
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: You teach your children a valuable
lesson if you teach them the importance of Sunday church school.
Your attitude toward this Christian institution is influential to
your child. Church school teachers, believe in the importance of
what you do. Spend the time, energy, and effort in preparation
and prayer for your children. If thorough preparation and daily
prayer for your students has not been your habit in the past,
make it a New Year's resolution that begins early. Your job is
too important!
* Find story books about Jesus in the Temple. Ask: "What
kinds of things do you suppose Jesus was learning?" "What kinds
of questions did he ask the teachers?"
* Ask your students what kinds of questions they have of you
or the pastor.
* The story shows Jesus' disobedience to his parents because
of obedience to a higher authority: God. Older students might
enjoy asking the question of when disobedience might be
appropriate.
* How can we all make our obedience to God more important in
our lives?
* As the new year approaches, you might explore with your
students what they could make as New Year's resolutions that
would draw them closer to God.
Sunday school assembly opening:
* As the new year approaches wrap up the past year's
activities with a review. You might ask for favorite stories,
favorite hymns, and so forth.
