Good morning, boys and girls. I brought something that I wonder if anyone can identify. (Let them answer.) This is a baton used by a choir, orchestra or band director. You might have seen a director use one of these. It helps the director in many ways. Can anyone tell me how it helps a director? (Let them answer.) It helps the musicians see the director while they perform. It enables the director to easily lead the choir or band.

This baton reminds me of this morning's lesson. In the lesson Paul is preaching a sermon. He is telling his audience that all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. It's like the people in the choir are led by the choir director. All of us who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. That's why we are all Christians. That's why we are in church today. The Spirit of God leads our life. The Bible says that all who are led by the Spirit are children of God. That even means adults are children of God. Did you ever think of that? (Let them answer.)

So, the next time you go to a music concert or the next time our church choir sings watch the director. See if the director uses a baton like this one. If the director does, remember that's how he leads the musicians. The director leads with a baton. God leads us with God's Spirit. Remember, all of us here today are children of God, no matter how old we happen to be!
