"Let the children ..."
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: The children are important -- to Jesus
and to the church. This is a time for the whole congregation to
appreciate the importance of children in their midst. And this
is a Sunday to communicate to your children their importance --
to Jesus and to the church.
* Have the children as involved in the morning worship service as possible: perhaps they can usher, greet people, or even read the lessons.
* Have the leaders of your church and prominent members come to your class and tell the children what the children mean to them. * Celebrate today as Children's Sunday. We have Mother's Day in May and Father's Day in June. Today, based on Jesus' love of children, celebrate Children's Day at your church.
* Teachers and parents can make Children's Sunday cards to give to their students or children. Sunday school assembly opening:
* Sing "Dearest Jesus We Are Here," "Jesus Loves The Little Children" or "Jesus Loves Me." Conclude the opening with "Go, My Children, With My Blessing."
* Have a large sheet of butcher's paper or newsprint where each child can put hand prints. Title it "Jesus loves us!" The older children can sign it; the younger ones can make a palm print with water-based paint.
