Mind and Body Working Together
Children's Activity
Object:
Parents or Teachers: Today's lesson is the story of the 10 lepers healed
and the one leper who thanked Jesus. The message to the children talked
about our bodies and our minds working together and believing that we
have the power to heal through faith. Cartoons or comic books frequently
have stories of superheroes combating the forces of evil. Give each child
a large paper and divide it into four sections. The children will be creating
their own comic with four frames. Read the story together and talk about
how to divide the story in four parts. Some suggestions are: one picture of
the 10 lepers, one frame of Jesus coming into view, another frame of the
nine lepers walking away and a final one of the one leper coming back to
thank Jesus. The caption to this one might be the verse from today, "Get
up and go on your way; your faith has made you well." Talk about what this
means. Discuss what a "positive" mental outlook will do for people --
even children. Have them share their comics with each other. Display in the
home or classroom over a background of newspaper comics.
