One and the same

In today's gospel passage, Jesus reminds his disciples that to know him is to know God. Because they have seen him and been with him, they have also seen and been with God. This was difficult for the disciples to understand because they didn't understand the relationship between God and Jesus. They see Jesus and God as being separate from one another, but Jesus wants them to understand that they are the same. So, when the disciples say they want to see God, Jesus reminds them that they already have. He then reminds them that other people will also see something of God when the disciples live the example Jesus gave them.
So what is the example Jesus gave us? What are the attributes of Christ that we can live in our own lives? What are some of the things Jesus did that we can do as well? This week, practice living your life as Jesus did. It is impossible to follow him exactly, because our world is different from his. We can follow him, though, by doing the things he did. With your children, see if you can do some of these things this week. Help each other find the inspiration, courage and determination to live the life of Christ. Here are some of the examples Jesus set for us:
o Jesus spent time with people different from himself.
o Jesus loved those who were misunderstood by others.
o Jesus forgave others and prayed for those who hurt him.
o Jesus' actions matched the things he said.
o Jesus loved God and put him before all other loves.
o Jesus prayed regularly to the Father.
