The only cure

three prescription containers
Good morning! I brought three little containers with me this
morning. Do you know what these are? (Show the containers and let
them answer.) Yes, these are medicine containers. I'm sure you've
seen some like this many times. Has your doctor ever given you
some medicine like this when you were sick? (Let them answer.)
Let's say that you were really sick with a very bad illness
and the doctor gave you some medicine in a bottle like this. Now,
what if you had three containers like this with different kinds
of medicine in each one? One has the medicine that will cure you,
but the other two won't help you at all. Which medicine would you
take? (Let them answer.) Of course you would take the medicine
that the doctor gave you to cure you. It would be foolish to take
either of the other two.
God has given us some medicine that will save our lives. His
medicine is Jesus! If we believe in Jesus as our Savior, Jesus
will be the cure for all of our sins and we will have eternal
life in Heaven. The Bible tells us that he is the source of our
eternal salvation. And yet, most of the people in the world are
refusing to take this wonderful medicine that God has given us.
They are doing just what you said it would be foolish to do. They
are taking the wrong medicine!
Aren't you glad that we know about Jesus being the right
medicine? (Let them answer.) Let's thank God for giving us Jesus,
the cure for all our problems and the source of our eternal life
in Heaven.
Dear Father in Heaven: We thank You for sending Jesus to us to be
the cure for all of our problems. We know that everyone who
believes in him will be saved. He is certainly the right
medicine. Amen.
