Only Jesus
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: More and more, we are hearing that it
is not important which God we believe in or what we believe about
that God. In this text, Jesus says clearly that He is the only
way to the Father. There is no other way! We must instill that
knowledge in our children. The only way to Heaven lies through
Jesus.
*Label three or more doors in the room, one with "Jesus" and
the others with the names of false religions. Explain to the
children that Heaven can be found behind only one door, and ask
them to choose a door. Then discuss the words of Jesus when he
tells us that the only way to the Father is through him.
*Make up a maze puzzle with the center labeled "Father."
Make sure there is only one path which leads to the Father. Make
the maze as easy or difficult as the ages of the children
dictate. Duplicate your puzzle so everyone can have one and let
them try to solve it. You can set a time limit and/or give a
prize to the one who completes it first. Afterwards, discuss the
words of Jesus and explain that he is the only way to the Father,
just as there was only one path in the maze that led to the
Father.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Have a treasure hunt with everyone having a map that
directs them to the treasure. Label the maps with different
titles. Label one "Jesus" and make sure that it is the only
accurate map that will lead to the treasure. The treasure will be
a card that says, "This card guarantees you entrance into
Heaven." Talk to them about the fact that there is only one way
to find Heaven and that is through Jesus.
