Good morning, boys and girls. Happy Easter to everyone! Let's try something. I want you to say, in a loud voice, "Christ is risen indeed." Can you say, "Christ is risen indeed"? Let's practice it one more time. (let them say the words over until they are shouting them) I am going to say, "Christ is risen," and you are going to say, "Christ is risen indeed!" Are you ready? We are going to say it three times. (have them build with each repetition) Very good!
It is true that Jesus was raised from the dead, but you know it was part of a plan. It was something that happened according to an order. Let me show you what I mean. I wrote out the alphabet this morning. The alphabet is always printed according to a plan. It is always in order. (show them the printed letters and read what you have printed) A, B, D, E, C, G, F. Is there something the matter with my alphabet? (let them answer) How is it supposed to go? (let them answer) I know all of the letters are here, but they are wrong. They are out of order. Is this better? A, B, C, D, E, F, G.... Okay, now I understand.
I wonder how I did with the numbers that I wrote? (show them the printed numbers) It says, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 4, 7, 9, 8, 10. How did I do with my numbers? (let them answer) Not very good? Is this better -- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10? (let them answer) We put them in the right order.
Easter is the day of resurrection. How many people were resurrected on Easter? (let them answer) Were the two thieves on the crosses resurrected? (let them answer) The answer to the question is "No." Who was resurrected on Easter Day? (let them answer) That's right, Jesus and only Jesus. Has anyone been resurrected since Jesus was resurrected? (let them answer) The answer is "No." Will there ever be another resurrection? (let them answer) The answer is "Yes." When Jesus returns to our earth, all of the bodies of the believers in Jesus will also be resurrected and go into God's kingdom.
There is an order, just like the alphabet and the numbers. Isn't that wonderful? When Jesus returns, our bodies will be resurrected just like Jesus was resurrected from the dead. Now that is good order.
The next time you see the alphabet or the numbers 1 to 10, I want you to see if they are in order. If they are in order then you will also remember that the Bible promises us a resurrection just like Jesus was resurrected. Amen.
