The pain won't last
Children's sermon
Object:
a Band-Aid
Good morning! What do I have here? (Show the Band-Aid and
let them answer.) Yes, this is a Band-Aid and I'll bet some of
you have had one of these on you at some time or another. Has
anyone had a cut or a scratch that you put a Band-Aid on? (Let
them answer.) Can anybody show me the spot where you had the
Band-Aid? (Let one or more show you where they had a cut or
scratch.) Well, I can't see anything there where you were cut.
It's completely healed, isn't it? When you got cut it hurt a lot,
but once it healed there was no more pain, and you may even have
trouble finding the spot where you were hurt.
The Bible tells us that is the way it will be for all of us
who are Christians. We may have lots of troubles and pains here
on earth in this life, but when we get to Heaven all that will be
forgotten. Heaven is going to be so wonderful that we will not
even remember the bad things that happened to us here on earth.
The next time you get hurt in some way, just remember that no
matter how much it hurts, it will soon be over, and even the
worst hurt will not be very important when it is compared to the
wonderful life we will all enjoy in Heaven.
Let's thank God for promising us that any pain we have is
only temporary. It won't last forever.
Dear Father in Heaven: We thank You for Your promise that any
suffering we have here in this life will not last forever and
that we can all look forward to being happy forever in Heaven
where there is no pain or suffering. Amen.
