Passing the peace
Children's Activity
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Digital or Polaroid camera
Cardstock or other stiff paper (cut into halves)
Yarn or plastic cording
White paper (cut into halves)
Markers and stickers
Stapler
Directions:
1. Take a picture of each child present and print them out.
2. Using the cardstock, have each of the children make a passport cover, by folding the half sheet in half.
3. Have the children decorate their cover and write "Passport to Jesus" (or heaven) on the front.
4. Give each child several sheets of paper (already cut into halves).
* The number of pieces will determine how long you continue this. Each page will be one month. Six half sheets would make one year.
5. Have the children stack the sheets inside the cover.
6. Staple the white paper into the cardstock cover on the fold like a book.
7. Glue the picture on the inside front (like a passport).
8. Make a lanyard from the yarn or plastic cord.
9. Punch a hole in the passport's back cover to hang the cord like a lanyard.
10. Use the "passport" to keep attendance over the next weeks by adding a different sticker or a stamp each week that relates to the week's "destination" (lesson).
*Please note: ask the children to bring in a small gift for another child next week. Suggest small stuffed animals, children's books, crayons, coloring books, and bags of candy.
