Peace Be With You
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: After Jesus rose from the dead he appeared to the
disciples and gave them this greeting: "Peace be with you." Use
this opportunity with your students to develop "greetings ideas"
that they create on their own. You may choose from the following
options or create your own, based on these ideas.
1. Have your students create greeting cards that state, "Peace be with you (John 20:19)." These can be whatever size you wish, depending on what supplies you have. Encourage the students to decorate these and mail or hand them to friends or family members.
2. Give your students 3- by 5-inch sheets, or similar sizes of paper. Have them create "calling cards" using the same greeting. Students could create any number of these. Encourage students to hand them out to worshipers (or family members) after Sunday school. Suggest to students to say, "Peace be with you" as the cards are handed out.
3. Have each student create one of the 3- by 5-inch sheets into a label that may be taped or pinned to the student's shirt or blouse. This serves as a greeting of its own when Sunday school is over for the day.
Be certain to tell each student "Peace be with you," as you send them on their way when Sunday school is over for the day. Have them repeat it to you.
Parents: Your child created a greeting or calling card based on the theme "Peace be with you." Suggest to your child that the card be mailed to a family member or friend. Help your child to address and mail the card.
