A place for me!
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Death is a great taboo in our society.
Talk about losses -- of pets, great-grandparents, grandparents,
acquaintances, and so forth. Ask, "What is it like to be really,
really sad?" and allow the children to respond. "How does the
belief in heaven help us?" "How do we know there is a place in
heaven for us?" (Because Jesus said there is and Jesus doesn't
tell lies.)
* Draw pictures of what heaven must be like.
* Memorize John 14:6 -- "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
* Memorize 1 Peter 3:9 -- "You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
* Talk about hope. Play a game about heaven using the letters of the word HOPE that you have placed on a board, overhead, or large sheet of paper. Ask for words that help us understand heaven. Examples might be:
H -- Help H -- Heaven
O -- Offered O -- Our
P -- People P -- Place
E -- Everywhere E -- Eternally
