Protection
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Protecting our children is an
important role and yet we cannot protect them from everything all
the time. We, too, must have faith in God's protective
providence.
* Find images of God's protection in a picture Bible. Examples might include pictures of Jesus as the Shepherd of the Sheep, Daniel in the lions' den, Jesus raising Peter from the water, and so forth.
* Have the children draw a picture of God protecting us from harm and danger.
* Say prayers for God's protection of loved ones.
* Use a map of the world to show that even though we are all from different places, we are all on one planet and unified by our common faith in Jesus.
Parents: Prayer is an important tool all Christians use to communicate with God. One of your important jobs is teaching your children the power and purpose of prayer.
* List people who might have dangerous occupations or might be in danger and have a prayer for these people.
* Prayer lists are good for people of all ages. Teach your children to list and pray for people by name. Start a prayer list and encourage the children to add names to their personal prayer lists.
Sunday school assembly opening:
* Make a point of saying prayers for protection for members of the congregation. Intercessory prayer can be an important feature of each Sunday school assembly opening.
* Sing "We are One in the Spirit."
* Have a map showing the birthplaces of all the members of the assembly.
