Pruning the vine
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials
Small piece of tree branch (1 for each child)
Tape
Markers
Leaves made of construction paper
Pruning shears
Instructions
Remind the children that we are to be good, strong branches in Jesus' church. We are expected to receive his love and share it with others.
Give the children several construction paper leaves (or have them draw and cut leaves out of paper). Have them write good things about themselves on some of the leaves and some bad things about themselves on some others.
Next have them tape the leaves on the branch. Talk with them about how the branch represents them and what they are like.
Using the pruning shears, the children can cut away the bad things in their life and keep the good things. By staying close to Jesus and following his ways, we can be strong branches in his church.
