Sad clowns
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials
Craft foam (fun foam, pre-cut into triangles to save time, if needed)
Wiggle eyes
Pom-poms (about 3/4- or 1-inch, white, or colored, if desired)
Scraps of felt or material to make mouths
Glue
Scissors
Safety pins
Instructions
Talk with the children about how God doesn't want us to draw attention to ourselves with our faces when we are worshiping or doing something special for God. When we make faces that are meant to make us look religious, it is not a good way to worship God. It draws attention to what we are doing instead of actually worshiping. It also makes our faces look like we are sad clowns. God knows what we do for him and we do not need to draw attention to it by the faces we make.
Give the children a triangle (about 2 1/2 inches on a side) of fun foam (or have them cut the triangles) and have them glue on wiggle eyes and pom-pom noses to make clown faces. You may also have them add a sad or silly mouth, which they can cut out of material scraps.
Children can wear the faces home, using the safety pins.
