Savior, Messiah, Lord
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: The many titles of Jesus can be
highlighted on this holy day. In our first lesson we have the
title "Redeemer" and explain it as being like coupons.
*List the titles for Jesus in the Christmas stories in Luke, Matthew, and John.
*Explain the meaning of each title. Consult a good Bible dictionary for a complete understanding of the title.
*Light the candles of the Advent wreath and put the Christ candle in the middle to symbolize the coming of the Light of the World -- yet another title for Jesus.
*Tell a story of some of your favorite Christmases. Invite other adults to share their favorite stories of Christmas. It is in our stories that community develops. Your children need relationships with other adults beyond their parents and grandparents. Telling stories of Christmas is a friendly, nonthreatening way to relate.
*Let the children tell their favorite stories of Christmas.
*Learn and sing those Christmas carols!
*Read the Christmas story again -- this time from a modern paraphrase.
*Act out the Christmas story in a play.
Parents: The Christmas traditions you develop at home are some of the most priceless Christmas gifts you can give your children. Give your traditions thought, meaning, and continuity from one year to the next.
