Sleeping through the storm
Children's Activity
Object:
Paper bags or construction paper 8.5 x 11 or larger
Hole punch
Yarn
Scissors
Pencils
Instructions
Fold the paper the long way. About 1/2 inch from the fold, make another fold, one on each side of the paper. The folds become the bottom of the boat (it will look a little like the letter W now). With the folds at the bottom, draw lines up to the outside corners to make the bottom corners rounded. Cut the excess paper away along the lines.
Use the hole punch to punch several holes on each end. Use the yarn to sew the ends together using a weaving technique. Knot the ends, and push the center "floor" flat so that the boat stands on its own.
Retell the story of the disciples' fear and Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee.
