Children's Activity
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT HOME
Materials:
Bagels -- one per child (stale is fine)
Peanut butter
Shortening (solid)
Birdseed
Yarn, ribbon, or string, cut into 1-yard lengths
Paper towels to use as place mats
Plastic bags or baggies
Directions:
1. Mix the peanut butter with the shortening, about 1/3 shortening to 2/3 peanut butter.
2. Help each child tie a piece of yarn through a bagel and place it on a paper towel.
3. Have the children coat the bagels with the peanut butter/shortening mixture.
4. Roll the bagels in birdseed, or sprinkle birdseed on all sides.
5. Give the children plastic bags to take their bagels home and tell them to hang the bird feeders in a tree so that they can see them from their houses.
6. After the birds eat, all that will be left is the string.
