Children's Activity
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT HOME
Materials:
Communion cups for individuals
Medium pink, brown, and/or white pom-poms to fit in the top of the cups (1/2 inch)
Small white pom-poms (1/4 inch)
Tiny red pom-poms
Coffee stir sticks -- cut into halves
Glue
Magnet
Directions:
1. Give each of the children one pom-pom of each size, a communion cup, a magnet, and a stir stick half.
2. Have the children place a ring of glue about halfway down their 1/2-inch pom-pom going all the way around.
3. Have the children insert this pom-pom into the cup about half way down with some hanging over the top (like a scoop of ice cream).
4. Tell the children to use a small amount of glue on the bottom of the 1/4-inch pom-pom and attach it to the larger pom-pom. This is the whipped topping.
5. Instruct the children to glue the tiny red pom-pom (the cherry) to the top of the white pom-pom.
6. Have the children put glue along one side of the coffee stir stick, going only as high as the communion cup.
7. Insert the stir stick into the side of the cup like a straw.
8. Glue a magnet to the back.
9. Have the children hang this at home to remind them of communion at church.
