"Spreading the good news"
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: God has blessed us all in numerous
ways. We need to be sure our children are aware of the many
blessings they enjoy, give credit to God for providing those
blessings, and tell the world about them. Jesus told the man from
whom he had cast out many evil spirits to go and tell everyone
what God had done for him. Just so, we all need to testify about
the blessings we have received from God.
*Talk to the children about all the blessings we have
received from God and then ask each of them to tell about one
special blessing they have received, i.e., good parents, healing
from illness, a good home, and so forth.
After each has told of a blessing, explain that we are all
going to shout out to the world about our blessings together.
Have them all together yell as loudly as they want to about the
blessings they talked about. When the cacophony has continued for
a while (as long as you can stand it), motion them to silence and
then talk about how we all need to tell the world about the many
blessings we receive from God.
*Have a contest between two groups of children to see who
can share the good news the fastest. Line the children up and
explain that we will give the first child a message and then time
how long it takes for the message to be given to each child in
the line. Give a "good news" message to the first child, i.e.,
"God loves you," and then have that child give the same message
to the next and continue to the end of the line. If no stopwatch
is available, a second hand on a watch will do.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Role-play the Gospel story by having someone play the
demon-possessed man and several children the demons. The demons
will tickle and gently pinch the man until someone else playing
Jesus tells them to stop. They will then run away, and you can
talk about how grateful the man was and how Jesus told him to
tell everyone how God had blessed him.
