Tell everybody
Children's sermon

an e-mail message
Good evening! How many of you know how to work with a
computer? (Let them answer.) Do any of you use e-mail so that you
get messages from friends and relatives? (Let them answer.)
Here's an e-mail message that I got recently. (Show them the e-
mail and talk about its content.)
They didn't have computers when Jesus was born, but the
Gospel tells us that the shepherds told everybody they could
about Jesus being born. It would have been nice if they could
have sent e-mail to everyone they knew, but they couldn't, so how
did they tell people about Jesus being born? (Let them answer.)
Yes, they just told people by talking to them. You know, that's
still a good way to tell people about Jesus. Do you know anybody
who doesn't know about Jesus? (Let them answer.) If you do,
shouldn't you be doing what the shepherds did and tell them about
Jesus? (Let them answer.)
Tomorrow is Christmas Day and there are a lot of people who
live right here in our town that will celebrate Christmas without
knowing what it's all about. They will have a tree, give
presents, and have a nice dinner, all without even thinking about
whose birthday they are celebrating. Do you think it is important
that we tell those people about Jesus? (Let them answer.)Yes, I
think it is too, so let's pray for those people.
Dear Father in Heaven: Please help us to follow the example of
the shepherds and tell everyone about Jesus. We pray that
everyone will come to know what Christmas is really all about.
Amen.
